How to Style Jorts
Since growing up in the 90s, I’ve always seen jorts as a summer staple. Though, back then, we didn’t call them jorts. Nor did the “homemade jorts” parody song of Papa Roach’s single “Last Resort” exist either, which perhaps is where the name was first popularized a la WaidesWorld on TikTok. In homage to that catchy song, here’s how I style long jorts.

Homemade Jorts
Typically, my homemade jorts are on the shorter side and actually cut from thrifted denim but not this pair! I thrifted these Levi’s in Arizona a few years ago. They were the perfect length for my short legs and extra soft from all the years of wear from the previous owner. I thank them for their service.

Double Denim Jorts
The Canadian Tuxedo (Jorts Version) feels like the most natural way to wear a jort for me. My Bill Blass jean jacket with a black velvet collar was the exact same wash of the shorts which almost never happens between 2 different brands. When double denim is too casual, I’ll pair my jorts with a structured blazer as I did here in an IG post back in 2020.
Delicate Tops Paired With Jorts
To balance out the bottom heavy jort one could pair it with a delicate top like this knit tank top I thrifted. Compared to a basic t shirt, a intricate knit or other fancier top can create an elevated look. If I wanted this to be less casual, I would trade the running shoes for a strappy sandal or heels.

Full Adam Sandler Mode
My outfit is on the cusp of Adam Sandler Mode which, in my opinion, has positive connotations. If I trade the knit top for a loose t shirt or button up shirt, I would crossover into ASM. But that’s the fun part about jorts, they’re versatile and can be dressed up or down by switching out key pieces.

How to Style Jorts
As with every other “How To Style xyz” posts I’ve written, I always like to remind everyone that there’s no wrong way to style something. My posts are less of a rigid guidebook but rather a beginning point to generate ideas within the confines of your own closet. Also, jorts can be easily made from a thrifted pair of denim so I encourage you to hit your local second hand shop for this piece.
