Vintage Christmas Music Playlist

The best way to get into the holiday spirit (in addition to the tips I gave here) is by putting on a vintage Christmas music playlist. Yes, stores begin playing songs WAY too early (in my opinion) but it’s always the same couple of songs over and over again. I’ve made a music mix that has the classics as well as several different deeper cuts. However, I always suggest hitting shuffle!

The Best Christmas Albums

There are indisputable classic Christmas albums with a unskippable lineup of tracks that are standalone. For anyone in the demographic that prefers to listen to albums in their entirety, here are my best Christmas album recommendations:

1. Vince Guaraldi Trio – A Charlie Brown Christmas
2. Peggy Lee – Christmas Carousel OR Ultimate Christmas (a compilation)
3. Beach Boys – Christmas Album
4. Various Artists (Darlene Love, The Ronettes, The Crystals) – A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector

6. Elvis – Christmas Album

Christmas Music Mix

As this is a playlist predominantly made of vintage music, most of the songs are in fact quite old. My definition of “vintage” is loose since there are modern-ish songs on there. I added The Christmas Song by The Raveonettes which is 12 years old at this point, it’s a tween! But also a complete banger of a Christmas song. Little Mama Trippin on Xmas by Bad Lucc, NKOTB, and Spice Girls Christmas Wrapping all make an appearance. I’m making this disclaimer so no one will be surprised by the sometimes random nature of this holiday soundscape.

As I mention in all of my other playlist blog posts, I recommend listening on shuffle for the best results.

The Vintage Christmas Music Playlist may only be 7 hours long, but it’s packed with old standards, bossa nova instrumentals, and a healthy dose of 90s. With that said, I’m always open to suggestions. Should I be missing an excellent tune, please let me know!

Club Monaco Christmas Music

This is a complete sidenote, but if any of you ever worked at Club Monaco during Christmas in the early 2000s and can remember any of their playlists, PLEASE send me a message. I worked there seasonally from 2007 – 2009 and they did such a good job curating music. One of my ALL TIME favourite Christmas songs, It Was Just Like Christmas by Low I heard in store.
