1960s Mod Fall Outfit

1960s MOD FALL OUTFIT
One of my favourite decade of clothing to thrift is definitely the swinging sixties. My past decade of sharing my thrifted finds here is more than enough evidence of that! So coming across this little polyester number with a punched out hole patterned hem was thrilling. This 1960s mod fall outfit is what I imagined Edie Sedgwick might have worn to Radcliffe right before she dropped out to be an It Girl.

THE MOD DRESS
As I mentioned previously, the dress is what I believe to be 100% polyester. This is NOT the dress for anyone who falls asleep with a lit cigarette. (Yes, that’s a callback to Edie!) This is a fall/winter only dress because the unbreathable fabric would be unbearable in the summer. Aside from the synthetic fabric restrictions, it’s an otherwise comfortable little dress.

MOD ACCESSORIES
Anything acrylic feels very mid century to me – perfect for a 1960s inspired mod fall outfit. This particular bag is contemporary though. It’s a few seasons old from ALDO. The polka dot tights felt right because geometric patterns are synonymous with mod style. They also compliment the punched hole hem pattern at the bottom of the dress.

1960S MOD FALL OUTFIT
A 1960s mod fall outfit is best paired with a classic campus in full autumn splendour. Fortunately, the U of A provides the ultimate backdrop. I never went there but I do enjoy walking around campus when the seasons change.
