Vertical Striped Vintage Blouse

VERTICAL STRIPED VINTAGE BLOUSE
Finding a vertically striped vintage blouse while thrifting is always a pleasure. Stripes are a pattern that will be cool indefinitely. Whenever I decide to purchase a vintage garment with a pattern, the first thing I look for is if the pattern lines up along the seams, placket or pockets. That is a tell tale sign that the item has been made carefully as lining up patterns takes more effort and more fabric. This blouse was just slightly off but it passed the test seeing as how the top portion of the pattern gets a little funky. Here’s how I styled it.

MERE HOTEL’S VERTICAL STRIPED EXTERIOR
During my road trip across the prairies with my mom, I discovered my love of Winnipeg. Having only visited the city once briefly when I was 12 (with most of the time spent at a wedding) I was unaware of the incredible architecture and savoury places to eat. Our wicked modern boutique accommodations at the Mere Hotel was so incredible, I almsot didn’t want to leave the premises (more on that this week). We were there two days and it was not nearly enough. I’m already trying to figure out when I can go back next fall; it’s just that good.

VERTICAL STRIPED OUTFIT
Most of my outfits are a mix of old and new. This one is no exception! The jacket was my mom’s from the 70s which she passed on to my Great Aunt who kept it all these years. It was rediscovered when we were helping her move and I was then gifted it. The coat is without a doubt a staple in my wardrobe. When it falls apart, so will I.
