How to Get Effortless Mermaid Hair

HOW TO GET EFFORTLESS MERMAID HAIR
Do you love the look of beachy waves but hate having to put in the effort? Or perhaps you prefer heatless options when it comes to styling. Here is how to get effortless mermaid hair with minimal effort. After years of bleaching my hair platinum blonde, I’m attempting to restore it by using less damaging techniques like this!

FIRST STEPS TO STYLING
Start with freshly washed hair that is either air dried or blow dried (if you’re not avoiding heatless styling.) The waves hold longer when your hair is clean.
Spray hair with a texture product – I used
Divide you hair into four sections (two in the front, two in the back). Begin clipping each section with the Kevin Murphy Wave Clips. If you have thicker hair, start with the bottom layer. This makes it easier to get closer to the root as you work your way up to the top.

SET THE STYLE
After everything is clipped in, I took the left over tips, curled them up, and pinned them with the silver clips. I was already looking pretty glamorous at this point but to finish off the process, there was the addition of a chic hair net. If you want to go the heatless route, leave the clips in for a couple hours. If you’re okay with some light heat, you can set the waves exponentially faster by blow drying. The hair net stops most wayward flyaways and prevents frizziness when using a hairdryer.

FINISHING TOUCHES
After removing the clips, adding a final styling spray is always a good idea. I love It’s the best of both worlds and doesn’t leave my hair crunchy. Just bouncy dreaminess.

BEACHY WAVES FOR CALIFORNIA VACATIONS
There was no question in my mind that beachy waves were the perfect hairstyle for Coachella. The weather in Southern California is made for this look; even when the sandy wind picked up during the evenings, it tousled the waves to perfection.
