John Deere Loft Tour (before and after)

THE KITCHEN
The kitchen already had pretty great bones so I didn’t do much of anything aside from painting. Had I decided to stay longer, I think the addition of upper cabinets would have been a must as there is very little storage space. The pot / pan rack definitely helped with the space issues though. I also loved the butcher block countertops but they do require regular maintenance.

THE LIVING ROOM
Much like the kitchen, the living room had minimal change. The deep red paint reminiscent of the 90s had to go. I wanted a giant WHITE BOX as if I lived in an art gallery. The brown curtains were then replaced with, you guessed it, white curtains. IKEA of course. What says loft more than a classic thick white IKEA curtain that is so long, it pools on the floor?

THE RANDOM NOOK
I really didn’t know what to do with this space… aside from painting off the the red and beige walls. Oof. That colour scheme is not for me. I ended up making the area a games room-ish? In retrospect, having my office over here would have made more sense. OH WELL!

DOWNSTAIRS CLOSET AREA
The space came with a giant IKEA closet unit which I gladly filled with all my vintage finery. The basement, much like the upstairs was also painted the red and beige tones. Just yikes. SO DARK. It’s amazing how much light white paint can add to a dark space.

THE BASEMENT BEDROOM
Directly across from the basement closet area is the “bedroom.” I feel that term is very loose when it comes to describing lofts as their whole essence is a lack of official wall boundaries. So this is the bedroom “area.” Again, ridding the room of the beige and red colour scheme.

And that’s my John Deere Loft Tour! I know none of the changes were earth shattering, but I do believe seeing a space brightened and refreshed is satisfying. I certainly always appreciate when other people open their homes and share their spaces in this way. So thank you for coming along on this journey with me! I’m excited for what’s to come next. 🙂
