Hot Plains Music Fest 2014
Last month I relived my youth while attending Hot Plains Music Fest – a multi venue festival in Edmonton, Alberta. Two bands from way back when reunited and made me feel like I was in my teens once more – The Cleats and Dance Floor Disasters.

My Misspent Youth
For those who might not be aware, before I began blogging I was really infatuated with punk music and culture. The first blogs I followed were LiveJournal communities – most notably Punk Makeup. Though it hasn’t been active since 2011, that won’t stop me from checking it periodically just in case.

A Wayback Wednesday post devoted to my punk days is probably the most appropriate way to illustrate how much my style has changed. In the meantime, check out my homage to that period of my life in this Punk Makeup Livejournal Tutorial post I made.

The bands I enjoyed over the weekend, aside from the reunion shows, were Michael Rault, SLATES, the Lad Mags, Dirty Dudes (AC/DC cover band) and Service:Fair. I went analog for capturing the bands at the festival:

UPCOMING EDMONTON AREA MUSIC FESTIVALS
The weekend was a complete blur and I’m already anticipating next year’s line up! In the meantime, I’m looking forward to headed out of town for the Golden West Music Fest which is sure to be a time. Check back for my round up of that festival soon.
