Inspired by Jane Birkin’s Style

Inspired by Jane Birkin’S Style
I’ve been deeply influenced and inspired by Jane Birkin’s Style. Her effortless chic and ability to make the most mundane pieces of clothing seem otherworldly is a skill I can only dream of acquiring. Whether it’s mini dresses, furry coats, or a wicker basket doubling as a purse, photos of her outfits continue to be major style references for me. Here’s my latest look influenced by here. And p.s. – this is most likely my last post until 2G12 so I wish you all a safe a spectacular evening.

90% thrifted outfit
What I love most about this outfit is that it’s nearly all thrifted. Aside from my makeup, underwear, and tights, everything else has been bought second hand. To be fair, this could be said about the majority of my outfits. I find much more joy in uncovering an old gem than I do walking into a mall and purchasing items with ease. Perhaps it’s the challenge but I also believe it’s because I adore finding one off pieces. They’re more inspiring and the likelihood of running into someone with your exact outfit is next to never.

THE HUNDRED HAMSTER COAT
I thrifted this incredibly obnoxious coat a while back and it has since been dubbed “the hundred hamster coat.” Fur is a touchy subject and the pieces that I do own have either been gifted to be by older relatives or thrifted. I prefer things not ending up in landfills so repurposing old items such as this may seem like an ethical grey area, but I would disagree. Would I buy a new fur item? Absolutely not. Will I continue to wear items that are old such as this one – yes. Especially because I live in a climate where seeing -30 for days on end is not uncommon.

See you next year!
I’m off for the rest of the holidays and heading on a road trip to the west coast. Stops include: Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Portland, and Seattle. My new year’s will be spent on the island in an outfit inspired by Jane Birkin’s style too. Do you have any style icons you adore?

Hamsters are so in.
I love nothing more than an obnoxious article of clothing. That crazy coat of yours is perfect. I love how you paired it with something as cutesy as those tights, which I'm totally coveting, by the way. Polka dots are like a drug to me. I can't resist.
