Moore Hotel Seattle Washington
MOORE HOTEL SEATTLE WASHINGTON
The drive up to Seattle from Portland in rush hour traffic was treacherous at best. And that’s before factoring in all the rain. Luckily, before sundown, we passed by a few landmarks I have come to anticipate seeing: the wild gospel signs and the ultra right wing Uncle Sam billboard in Chehalis, WA. The latter of which was, regrettably, covered up. I always look forward to the ~unique~ signs peppered along the interstate. Perhaps the owner of Uncle Sam was finally given a warning after such stunning sayings as this. Check out the Uncle Sam Billboard wikipedia article to read more about this unhinged right wing roadside attraction. Anyhoo, after the drive we arrived at the Moore Hotel Seattle Washington for a slightly irregular stay.

A CREEPY NIGHT AT THE MOORE HOTEL
If I thought we had a wild night in Portland, I didn’t realize what awaited me at The Moore Hotel in Seattle. The last time we stayed here I think I was too inebriated to pay attention to the haunted vibes. This time however, the howling wind and consistent pelting of rain only added to the dark and stormy night of it all. J dozed off without much worry as I stayed up trying to drown out the creepy noises with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The witching hour is supposedly around 3am which was right about the time I heard everyone on our floor struggling with their keys in the door. Really? Everyone came back to the hotel all at once? When I had enough of Carlton’s smugmug, I tried to go to sleep. In the darkness, I couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched from the washroom so I had to leave the light on.
ROOM 714
In the morning J casually mentioned that he had heard the hotel is haunted. GREAT. That information would have been more useful the night prior. He also pointed out the vent in the washroom ceiling that looks straight into the attic of the hotel. (As pictured below.) Though completely unsettled by the experience, I will most definitely be staying there again next time I’m in Seattle. After all, it’s a tradition at this point.
GREAT LOCATION
Besides being slightly terrifying to the overly sensitive (me), The Moore Hotel has many original features that make it a historic gem. That and its central downtown location cannot be beat! It’s a short walk to the infamous Pike Place Market, first Starbucks shop, and the Puget Sound. Also my personal favourite, the scrumptious Eastern European Piroshky Bakery. Highly recommend. For those who love Betsey Johnson, a 10 minute walk will get you to her shop on 1429 5th Ave. Betsey Johnson. My first stop in Seattle is usually Bimbo’s Cantina, though they sadly have toned down the kitschy decor since my last visit. There is nothing I love more than a fiesta hanging from the ceiling and a thousand business cards under the glass of the tables. It’s a 30 minute walk from the hotel should you be so inclined.
THE MOORE HOTEL DOWNTOWN SEATTLE
As silly as this sounds but haunting is a positive when it comes to hotel features, in my opinion. Perhaps this is because of the fact that I grew up in a haunted house (Firkins House now in Fort Edmonton). The view of the Puget Sound in between the historic architecture is also a bonus. Can’t wait till my next visit.

I so love your travel diary entries…even if they do involve potentially haunted hotels and bizarro roadside attractions. It's exactly the way I would plan my own vacation!

The Hotel Oxford picture is so hauntingly beautiful, and I love the pictures of the road trip, the billboard signs are interesting. It's scary that the hotel was apparently haunted and you had a feeling of someone watching you!

That first pic is…interesting haha. One thing I'm glad about Canada…you usually don't have to deal with too much of that. Loving all your travel diary pics, so stunning!

LOVE the photos….they are always so beautiful. The gospel signs remind me of something here in Alabama…on the way to the beach every year, we drive South on 65 where there is a sign (that's been there FOREVER) that says: "Go to church or the devil will get you", complete with a big red devil holding a pitchfork. I won't lie, it freaked me out as a kid. 😉
Love Seattle
I've been many times
