Rose Wall Winnipeg

Rose Wall Winnipeg
My favourite thing to do in a new city is to walk around. There’s so much you will miss if you drive / take transportation. Though I’ve been to Winnipeg before, it was for a wedding and I didn’t get to poke around. This time around, things were different! Walking around I discovered quite a few murals but the rose wall in Winnipeg really captured my attention.

THE ROSE WALL MURAL ARTIST
These two murals are on the side of the historic James Avenue Pumping Station at 302 Waterfront Drive. It was across the street from where we were staying: the Mere Hotel. The two pieces were made in 2014 by Julia Wake (left) and Pat Lazo (right). UPDATE: I recently found out that the murals were sadly removed in 2016. There is now a building partially in front of the facade. That’s the thing about street art, it’s fleeting. If you like a piece, photograph it ASAP because nothing is guaranteed.

MY TRAVELLING OUTFIT
Lastly, let’s chat about my outfit. This look is all about being comfy because I refuse to be otherwise when I’m trying to discover a city. Everyone always asks me about this oversized flannel and I always feel guilty confessing my mom found it thrifting. Sadly, it cannot be easily repurchased though you might get lucky on etsy or ebay. It’s my lazy girl special and part of my ultimate road trip style.
