Lunch at the Glade Sketch London

Lunching at The Glade – Sketch London
POST UPDATED IN JANUARY 2023
Is Sketch London worth the price? Absolutely yes. If you are a fan of architecture, art, and fine dining, it is not to be missed. While they’re known for the infamous millennial pink (now yellow) Gallery tea room, a lunch at The Glade Sketch London is just as whimsical. Honestly, there is no wrong choice when it comes to a visit there – even a trip to the bathroom is magical. Keep scrolling for interiors worthy of a Wes Anderson movie. Without a doubt, Sketch is truly an artist-conceived restaurant void of a bad angle.

Cocktails at Sketch
One cannot deny the allure of a fantastically made cocktail and The Glade has that craft perfected. After wandering down the bustling Regent Street (post Lush Spa Oxford Street sailor inspired massage experience) I was ready for a refreshing drink. Both signature cocktails and old standards are available. Their selection of tea also looked appealing. The Brits certainly know a thing or two about tea.

Food at The Glade
If the cocktails weren’t enough to encourage a visit, then perhaps the breakfast and lunch menu might. It appears The Glade has gone through a mini redecoration and now offers breakfast as well. The room may have had an update, but their menu still looks phenomenal. Both vegan and vegetarian dishes are now available.

MAXIMALIST DECOR
Now in its 20th year of existence, Sketch’s standards of decor meet the quality of food in perfect harmony. Every sense is piqued when visiting the space. From the visuals, the flavours, the lush textured upholstery, to the music, and scents. I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting since The Glade’s mini facelift, but the woodsy wallpaper is still a main feature. The rattan furniture has been replaced with dreamy Victorian-esque loveseats and chairs. Fear not, the pod washrooms are still their wonderful charming selves. And the pink David Shrigley Gallery room has been updated to a lovely muted yellow by artist Yinka Shonibare and project architect India Mahdavi.

HOW TO have lunch at The Glade Sketch London
Sketch is located in the Mayfair neighbourhood just off of Oxford Circus and Regent Street – near Vogue house (for my fashion enthusiasts out there.) If you are interested in the Gallery’s high tea, I recommend booking it ahead of time on their website. Full menu details for every room are available there as well. The Glade is much easier to drop by on a whim though a weekday at lunchtime might be a bit of a wait. Plan accordingly.
UPDATE: It appears that high tea is available for delivery within London. Though it certainly would not be the same experience as an in-person visit, those cakes sure look tasty!
Address: 9 conduit street London, England
