Beetlejuice NYX Cosmetics Collection

IT’S SHOWTIME!
As a longtime fan of both the movie and cartoon, I was thrilled to receive a box of goodies from Warner Brothers Canada in celebration of the launch which included the Beetlejuice NYX Cosmetics Collection.
The items were gifted, but this post is being made purely by my devotion to all things Beetlejuice. Rarely do I get excited about remakes or sequels to beloved cult classic movies, however, in this case I AM. When original cast sign on, you know it’s going to be good… at least with this group of people!

DRESSING UP AS BEETLEJUICE
As a Beetlejuice enthusiast, naturally I have also reviewed the Melt Cosmetics Collection as well as dressed up as him for Halloween on two occasions. Once in a subdued homage to him and then as a full on Beetlejuice complete with vintage mask. Yes, it’s as terrifying as it sounds and I can confirm the plastic mask does not smell good. (The sacrifices I make.)

BEETLEJUICE COLOR FOR THE RECENTLY DECEASED COLOR PALETTE
While I would like to call this an eyeshadow palette, as I was editing these photos I noticed that little asterix saying that they’re only safe for face/body. The colours are fun though and who can deny the power of glitter?

Notice the star on the right hand side of the Beetlejuice Color for the Recently Deceased 8 Pan Color Palette. Here are the swatches of each eyeshadow color.

BEETLEJUICE AFTERLIFE PASSPORT CHEEK PALETTE
Even if this wasn’t a Beetlejuice collection, I would be so into this NYX Cosmetics cheek trio because they are lovely. Coppery oranges and baby pinks are what I gravitate towards so this may be biased. The wine colour is autumn coded.

The Beetlejuice Afterlife Passport Cheek Palette is quite pigmented, you can see the swatches below. I wish the wine colour came in a lipstick too!

BEETLEJUICE PINSTRIPE DUO LINERS
This is my first time using NYX Cosmetics so I didn’t know what to expect at all. When it came to the eyeliners, I was blown away. The Beetlejuice Pinstripe Duo Liners are one side black liquid liner and the other side a chromatic soft liner. Both sides stayed put when I did a rub test which I found impressive since crayon liners often smudge.

All three shades are gorgeous. The cobalt blue is stunning as is the green, however, the pink was by far my favourite. It was difficult to photograph the swatch in order to accurately capture its true colour. It’s a baby pink / rose goldish / green depending on which angle you see it from.

BEETLEJUICE SANDWORM SWIRL BUTTER LIP GLOSS
For something described as a lip gloss, these sandworm swirls had more pigmentation than I anticipated.
The black / white one creates a cement grey which reminded me of a couple of lipsticks I loved before they were discontinued. First off, Christian Dior Rouge Dior #502 Radical Matte which came out in 2017 and is still one of the most interesting shades of lipstick I’ve seen in a long time. Secondly, Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Chill Zone was also matte and had a hold on me for the better part of 2016/2017. Here’s an outfit post wearing Chill Zone for reference.

The other Sandworm Swirl Butter Lip Glosses are standard colours. The green purple is very purpley whereas the red / purple swirl has a warmer redish tone to it. The pink / green reads a bit coral, in my opinion.

Let’s be honest, aside from the grey gloss, the colours are nothing groundbreaking. It’s all in the delightful packaging which they have done a tremendous job designing. The whole sandworm imagery paired with the swirling colours? I am absolutely swooning. Good packaging has turned me into a makeup hoarder…. or as I rather describe it: an archivist.

BEETLEJUICE LIP GLOSS
I’m hesitant to claim favourites here, but the Beetlejuice Lip Gloss in Pomegranate Clout might be it. It’s the most wearable item in the collection, aside from the blushes, and the smell reminds me of childhood candy. The colour gives off a slight your-lips-but-better tint which is what I default to most days. And of course the packaging!!!!

SHRINKER BOB MAKEUP SPONGE
Can you already guess what I’m going to say about the Shrinker Bob Sponge? Yeah, it’s cute as heck and comes with a travel case. Things like this are why I’d go bankrupt if I tried living in Japan. I am easily parted with my money when confronted with adorable things that I can justify buying because I’ll “use them.” That justification is code for: display on a shelf because it’s much too lovely to *actually* use.

DEAD COLD UNDEREYE PATCHES
Again 10/10 for packaging and presentation but for me, these are definitely something I wouldn’t make use of. They have been rehomed to my sister who is an even bigger Beetlejuice fan than I am. The Dead Cold Undereye Patches are reusable, which is preferable when you’re buying something themed as you get to enjoy them longer than a single use item. I even lovingly cut the pack open on the back with nail scissors as to not destroy it.

BEETLEJUICE NYX COSMETICS COLLECTION
There it is, the complete Beetlejuice NYX Cosmetics Collection. Have you tried any of the products? Do you have a favourite a item? And most importantly, HAVE YOU SEEN THE MOVIE YET?????
Many thanks to Warner Brothers Canada for the package.
