Summer Blushes

SUMMER BLUSHES
I’ve been known to find one blush and stick with it for years. I’m very ride or die when it comes to particular blushes. has been a favourite since high school. But 2017 I’m on a “new year, new me” bitmoji inspired train so I thought it was time to branch out from my tried and true blushes. (Shout out to ). While I’m still sticking to the same colour families as Orgasm and Pink Swoon, I’ve also been trying out different textures and types of blush. In addition to that, highlighter has become a regular in my routine as well. Here are a few of my recent favourite summer blushes starting from the far left.

STELLAR IN ECLIPSE
Holy pigmentation! It’s a gorgeous shade of bright peach with a bit of shine to it, or incandescent shimmer if you will, creating a little more dimension than a matte flat blush. It comes with a small applicator brush which is great if you’re on the go. Bonus: it’s made in Canada! 2023 UPDATE: I’m so gutted to report that the brand has folded. This blush was unbelievable and I’m sad it’s no longer available.
TOM FORD – SHADE & ILLUMINATE – SCINTILLATE
This is the double whammy of blush and highlighter. A duo of epic proportions if you will! One side is a creamy peach blush (the shade) and the other side is a creamy, light shimmer highlighter (the illuminator). Basically the best of both worlds. Since it’s Tom Ford, the product is housed in a real sexy and sleek compact. 2023 UPDATE: The cream version of this has been discontinued. A pressed powder version is available now. The most comparable colour is .
MAC – KABUKI MAGIC – TODAY WE LIVE
There’s something about those pinky peaches that draw me in without fail. For those with a discerning eye, each shade is slightly different than the next. This limited edition powder blush duo is one part peachy blusher dreaminess and one part taupe bronzer. 2023 UPDATE: Poshmark or eBay are the only hope my friends.
TOM FORD – SKIN ILLUMINATOR – FIRE LUST
This is an easy way to add some shimmer to an everyday look with minimal skill required. I like applying this to my face before layering a hint of blush on top. The skin illuminator does exactly what it suggests. It gives a subtle summer-y glow to the visage without being sparkly. 2023 UPDATE: This is…. discontinued. Apparently everything I loved in 2017 is gone.
BAREMINERALS – INVISIBLE GLOW – FAIR TO LIGHT
This hand baked dream is hands down my favourite highlighter I’ve ever used. The corner of my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, the top of my cheekbones, everywhere! It adds a nice glimmer without making your face overwhelmingly sparkly or shiny. (Which is my biggest makeup fear.) 2023 UPDATE: Discontinued of course. With that said, the is a close match. It appears only MAC are still making baked mineral blushes these days.

PEACHY KEEN BLUSH QUEEN
This post has made it clear that I gravitate to certain colour families. Peach anyone? I find it hilarious that the two blushes I mentioned at the beginning are the only ones still on the market. Pink Swoon and Orgasm will never die, just like the goonies.
Anyone out there have a blush or highlighter they’re devoted to that hasn’t been discontinued? I would love to hear about it!
