MAC Glow Play Blushes Loud and Clear Collection
From the moment I saw the MAC Glow Play Blushes + Loud and Clear Collection packaging I was intrigued. Then when I received this lovely pr package from the brand, I was thrilled to experience it in person. Naturally I had to try it all out and make a video about it which you will find at the end of this post. While this is no Punk Makeup Livejournal Tutorial, the makeup does reference art history which, of course, I adore.

Club Monaco Cosmetics Packaging Inspiration
One of the reasons why I love the packaging so much is because it reminds me of the now defunct Club Monaco Cosmetics makeup line. It was revolutionary at the time because most brands had darker packaging; clear frosted plastic was a breath of fresh air. Even the MAC boxes are reminiscent of Club.
After all these years I still covet that line and wish I had kept the few products I had. Fortunately I was smart enough to keep my makeup brushes from that line.

MAC Glow Play Blushes
The formula of the MAC Glow Play Blushes was not what I was expecting but a surprise in the best way possible. It’s a hybrid between powder and creamy jelly. It’s like a gorgeous colourful little putty; that’s the best description I can come up with. They remind me of my Stila Heavenly Highlighter that I love deeply.
Not only are the buildable but they apply creamy and dry down to a powder. So unlike some traditional cream blushes, they have a longer wear time and don’t move or disappear throughout the day.
The colours I have pictured from left to right are:
– Rosy Does It
– So Natural
– Groovy
– Blush, Please
– That’s Peachy
But not only have they made this line permanent, MAC has also added an array of new shades! And the packaging continues to be dreamy frosted clear Club Monaco-esque. You can check out the entire Glow Play Blushes here.
Mac Loud & Clear Lipsticks
One of the first MAC products I tried was a lipstick back in the early 2000s. They were constantly making shades that you could not find elsewhere and their formula was exceptional. Since then, they’ve continued to level up, especially formula wise. The Loud & Clear lipsticks apply like a cream sheen but look more matte. As a former obsessive of MAC’s Ruby Woo ultra matte lipstick, this is much easier to apply to than that. Also has that same vanilla flavour I know and love.
The lipstick shades I tried:
– Sugar Dada
– Sugar Sweet Cameo
Additional shades in the collection:
– Fleur D’Coral
– Yash
– Baroque the Internet (best name ever)
In addition to the lipsticks, there is also 5 lipglasses in the collection as well. Sadly I have not yet tried them!

MAC Loud & Clear Eyeshadows
Sometimes matte eyeshadows can be difficult to work with. Either they are refuse to blend and become patchy or they lack enough pigmentation. The Mac Loud & Clear eye shadows however, were a DREAM to work with. Effortless is the word that comes to mind when attempting to describe my experience with them.
There are 5 eyeshadows total and the first two on the list below are the ones I tried.
– Bougie Babe
– Paint by Umber
– Keep Stijl (baby pink)
– Omega (warm taupe)
– Tromp L’oeil (cream)
Though this colours have now been discontinued, the formula does remind me of MAC’s Powder Kiss Eyeshadow line that is part of their permanent collection (for now). I have a whole post on the powder kiss collection as well.

Loud & Clear Skinfinish
The face component of the Loud & Clear collection was the Extra Dimension Skinfinish; a feather like textured highlighter. It comes in two colours: Postmodernist Peach, the shade I tried. And Hot Damn-oiselle D’Avignon, a pinky peach gold shimmer.
For some reason I thought that the Skinfinish highlighter was going to have the same feel to it as the Glow Play blushes – it did not. The formula was a classic powder highlighter that didn’t wow me. Out of everything I tried, this was the most disappointing despite looking the most beautiful.

All in all, I think these two launches are some of the most exciting I’ve tried from MAC in recent memory. So much so that I wish they would all become fixtures in their permanent collection because I’m going to be sad when I hit pan on a few of them.
