MAC Powder Kiss Collection
The world continues to fall apart so I’ll just be over here trying to find some semblance of relaxation trying out the MAC Powder Kiss Collection. MAC Cosmetics continues to launch products that I still get excited about. Sometimes they’re unexpected, like the MAC x Marge Simpson line or the MAC x Julia Petit mini launch. Other times they’re standard colours in a new fantastic formula like MAC Glow Play Blushes Loud and Clear Collection. But they rarely disappoint. With that said, yes I haven’t taken down my ceramic xmas tree because WHAT IS TIME? Time to play with makeup.

MAC Powder Kiss Liquid Lip
The Powder Kiss Liquid Lipcolour has the classic vanilla scent that MAC is known for, which I love. The formula reminds me of a cream blush – the consistency is more akin to cream than liquid. In my opinion, the applicator is not great. Rather than a classic tapered doe-foot, it has a bulbous end to it which makes applying with precision difficult. I have opted to glob the product out with the applicator onto the center of my lip then use a tapered lip brush to apply it.
Much like a cream blush, the colour blends out easily to create a matte tint. The colour lasts a few hours unless you’re eating or drinking at regular intervals. But the nice part is that it fades gracefully unlike many traditional matte lipsticks.

Powder Kiss Liquid Lip Colours
MAC Canada kindly sent over four shades of the Powder Kiss Liquid Lip Colours for me to test out.
The lip colours from left to right:
– Date-Maker – warm nude.
The following 3 colours are no longer available on the MAC website, but Sephora says they still have a few in stock. I think they may be getting discontinued.
– Sorry Not Sorry – dirty pumpkin orange. Also comes in the slim stick version.
– Resort Season – bright orange.
– Make Love to the Camera – deep wine.

Powder Kiss Lipstick
Since this post was originally written, MAC has launched two additional lip products under the Powder Kiss line. There’s a traditional bullet lipstick and a slim stick retractable version – I have yet to try either but they look gorgeous!

MAC Powder Kiss Soft Matte Eyeshadow
As a young teen, I learned how to blend eyeshadows properly thanks to MAC. Their eyeshadows came in wild colours and blended like a dream in the early 2000s and they’ve continued to release user-friendly formulations since then. I think they’re Powder Kiss eyeshadow is at the top of my list for ease of use. Not only are the shadows pigmented, but they have a smoothness to them.
Typically, when I think of matte eyeshadows they tend to be on the chalkier side which results in a patchy application unless you’re an absolute wizard. And let’s be honest, not all of us have mastered the sorcery of making subpar products look luxury. Powder Kiss has married the matte look with a pigmented yet blendable formula that has blown my mind. I adore it.

Powder Kiss Soft Matte Eyeshadow Shades
MAC Canada kindly sent over five shades of the Powder Kiss Soft Matte Eyeshadows for me to test out. They somehow created a wonderful colour gradation all lined up next to each other.
The eyeshadow shades from left to right:
– Give A Glam – blackened chocolate brown.
– Devoted to Chili – rusty brown.
– So Haute Right Now – bright blood orange.
– Strike a Pose – light shell peach.
– Best of Me – vanilla cream.

MAC Powder Kiss Collection Review
Dare I say the Powder Kiss formula might be my favourite? The lipsticks are creamy but matte and wear well. Much like the lipsticks, the single shadows are creamy, pigmented, and so blendable. Eyeshadows like this are wonderful for makeup beginners because they won’t have to fight with the product to get the desired end result. Simply put, they make makeup easy.
With that said, I’ll always have a soft spot for the original eyeshadow formula. I even did a post recreated my high school Punk Makeup Livejournal Tutorial look from circa 2005.
