2020 Makeup Favourites
My 2020 Makeup Favourites are better late than never….. right!? Despite this being a year that my face has been covered with a mask whenever I was out, I still found a few loves. Keep scrolling for the full YouTube video and a complete list of products in the order of application. 🙂

PRODUCTS USED
Here is a complete breakdown of all the products I mentioned in my 2020 Makeup Favourites video.
PRIMERS
These three primers continue to be top shelf for me even into 2021. Though Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream is not necessarily a “primer” I consider it as such. The cream is rich and creates a perfect canvas for makeup, in my opinion.
While the Magic Cream is ultra hydrating, the Enriched Face Base is a better option for people who are going for a more matte base.

BROWS
As I mentioned in my Shop My Stash post, Benefit are my brow go-to. It may seem like they’re constantly launching new bro products because they are. But, by trial and error, they keep the ones that are truly perfected.

EYELINER
Eyeliner isn’t something I use a ton of. Typically I will tight line with a brown eyeshadow using an angled brush and call it day. But when I do reach for a proper liner, it has been Charlotte Tilbury.
The Pillowtalk eyeliner is such a unique colour, a moody maroon-y and I love it even without an eyeshadow. In addition to that, the eye cheat is a lovely colour to use on the waterline to create the illusion of a larger eye.

MASCARA
Mascara is one of those items that is so boring to talk about but is crucial to most people’s routines. You may not wear a full face of makeup, but mascara is usually a default. These were my top three picks for this year.

EYESHADOW
The Pillowtalk line was a major launch this year, at least for me. I reviewed the entire Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Collection if you want more details on that. Additionally, my post about the NARS Afterglow Eyeshadow Palette was also high up on my list.
I hope the single shadow makes a comeback though. The ongoing onslaught of palette launches is exhausting so the idea of creating my own colour story from single shadows is appealing. Especially if you find a formula you like.

FOUNDATION
Tinted Moisturizer will always be my first choice when it comes to foundation. The less layers of product on my skin, the better. With that said, if I need something with a bit more coverage, it’s a tie between Fenty Pro Filtr’ and Laura Mercier’s Flawless Lumiere Radiance Perfecting Foundation.
I wish companies would stop making their product names needlessly lengthy. There is NO reason for it.

CONCEALER
For some reason I find the concealers I like the most are in little pots which isn’t the most hygenic. The only concealer on this list that isn’t in a pot is the Fenty Pro Filtr’.

BRONZER
There’s something about a massive bronzer that makes me feel like a career woman in the 80s living the dream with my jumbo cosmetics and that’s what Marc Jacobs is giving me. Add in a bit of a coconut-y scent and I’m living my best. Sadly the bronzer has broke in the middle but I will continue to use it.

BLUSH
MAC’s entire Glow Play line is the real winner this year. I cannot get enough of this creamy powdery formula, I’ve never tried anything like it before. Glow Play has somehow married the smoothness of a cream blush with the staying power of a powder. It’s truly unique.

PALETTE
It’s nice that this compact palette can fit easily into a purse, however, the tiny size makes using it a little more difficult as each shade is spaced closely together. With that said, I still do enjoy the product and am curious to explore this brand more hopefully in the future.

HIGHLIGHTER
Fenty has mastered the high impact highlighter and it shows. The Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter duos are pigmented and gorgeous without looking chunky. I even use this duo as an eyeshadow often because the colours are just that lovely.
Burt’s Bees does not get enough credit for their makeup line which continues to impress me the more items I try. If you’re interested in more in depth information, check out my Trying Out Burt’s Bees Makeup review post.

LIPSTICK
There’s a reason MAC Cosmetics has continued to thrive over the years – they have a stable full of incredible products they build off of. Their Powder Kiss line is UNREAL. This has to be my favourite lipstick formula since it’s so wearable and comfortable. Not only that, but the colour range continues to grow.
