Trying Out New Makeup

There’s nothing I love more than Trying Out New Makeup! Well…. perhaps snacking maybe. I digress, the title is self explanatory. I will be in fact, trying out new makeup in this video and giving my first impressions. Keep scrolling for the YouTube video and complete product details.

JUICE BEAUTY CC CREAM

Wow just wow. I LOVE this formula. It is the perfect cc cream for light coverage and a general evening out of the skin tone. Sadly it’s only SPF 30+ which I wish it were at least 40, but maybe it will be upped one day.

FENTY BEAUTY PRO FILTR’ HYDRATING PRIMER

This primer feels dreamy on the skin. It’s a good combination of fluid but not overly runny. It does a great job prepping the skin for foundation by filing in the crevices one continues to gain as we move up in age.

BITE BEAUTY CHANGEMAKER MICELLAR FOUNDATION

Sadly Bite Beauty has moved on from making commercial products and has shifted its business model to focus on their custom lip labs. I personally do not like this change but I’m just a pleb who has zero sway. This product has obviously been discontinued now.

JUICE BEAUTY CONCEALER

Much like their CC cream, I am hopeful that this concealer will be a beloved product to me. UPDATE: it has made my 2020 Makeup Favourites list. 

CHARLOTTE TILBURY BRONZER

Charlotte Tilbury continues to blow me away with her lush and pigmented formulas. This bronzer is no exception. First impressions are excellent. It applies easily and wears well throughout the day.

LAURA MERCIER LOOSE SETTING POWDER

I’m still trying to understand the purpose of setting powder, especially for anyone who doesn’t use full coverage foundation. This loose powder is very finely milled and the packaging is lovely. 

BITE BEAUTY PRESSED POWDER

Is it too soon to say “another one Bites the dust?” Sadly this is another product that is no longer with us.

RMS BEAUTY SIGNATURE SET IN MOD

This tiny palette is great for travel or even just keeping in your purse for every day touch ups. Every pan is a convertible multi-use product which is what I prefer when I’m on the go. The less items I have to haul around, the better.

LISE WATIER DIAMOND DREAMS PALETTE

Lise Watier is a drugstore staple in Canada. I remember going to Shoppers Drugmart as a child and wistfully looking at the brand behind the counter – it seemed so luxurious! Turns out, it is the high end of the drugstore and quite a few of their products are great! This blush and highlight palette is a surprising win.

EYEBROWS

My prefered brow pencil has been Benefit for years ever since I switched from Hourglass. I found the perfect colour in 2.5 neutral blonde and I’ve never looked back.

As for gels, I’m a little more flexible. The classic bottle brush type applicator on the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows is able to coat my fine barely there brow hairs a little better than the spiky rubber of the bareMinerals Strength & Length brow gel.

EYEs

It was difficult to choose which new palettes to try out so I narrowed it down to a two along with a couple single shadows. 

NARS CLIMAX EXTREME EFFECTS EYESHADOW PALETTE

I’ve been using NARS cosmetics since 2004ish and they continue to put together colour stories that DRAW me right in. If I could bring back one of their eyeshadow duos, it would be the electric green and blue combo called “Rated R”. It was magical. I digress, this palette with the sparkly orangey red is giving me the same thrilled feeling. 

CHARLOTTE TILBURY WALK OF NO SHAME QUAD EYESHADOW

Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadows are a joy to use but sadly, this is the second quad that has arrived with one pan broken. Perhaps the softness makes it more prone to breakage, I’m not sure. It’s disappointing especially for what they cost (though this one was gifted so I cannot complain.) This quad is gorgeous otherwise.

LIPS

Half of these products are no longer available due to the fact that Bite has shut down (as mentioned previously) which is such a shame! Bite’s lip products were in a class of their own.

BITE BEAUTY AGAVE NIGHTTIME VEGAN LIP THERAPY

The Agave Nighttime Vegan Lip Therapy was a winter wind savior. Apparently, Lip Lab (their new name) has an Agave+ Nighttime Lip Therapy but it looks more like a whipped cream vs a balm. Reddit is filled with people trying to find the original formula and I may or may not be one of them.

BITE BEAUTY LINE & DEFINE VEGAN LIP PRIMER

This product is also still available but rebranded as Lip Lab and I cannot confirm if the formula is still the same. As a person who is over 30, I really like products like this since my lipstick & glosses have a tendency to creep into my fine lines around my lips. A translucent liner like this stops that from happening.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY WALK OF NO SHAME LIP CHEAT

Walk of No Shame is SUCH A GOOD SHADE! Holy cow, this is the perfect moody red berry. I do have the lipstick to go with it and can confirm it’s incredible. Today however I tried out the Powder Kiss Liquid Lipsticks instead. 

MAC COSMETICS POWDER KISS LIQUID LIPSTICKS

The MAC Powderkiss line has quickly turned into one of my favourite lines from the brand. In fact, I did an entire post just on that: MAC Powder Kiss Collection should you want to check out my full review.
